Dental treatment of the dental phobic patient
The treatment of the dental phobic is characterized by the use of therapeutic resources which minimize the discomfort and suffering of the patient making the recovery of oral health possible; the oral health itself it is often hurt due to the behavior of the phobic patient and the limitations of the usual treatment. The therapeutic resources may involve behavioral as well as pharmacological techniques. When behavioral management are not successful, pharmacological treatment will provide minimum discomfort to the patient. Dental treatment with general anesthesia in a hospital environment is an option when all else does not result as expected. It is important to emphasized that Dentistry in the present days has at our disposal many resources which will guarantee a successful treatment which restore the oral health even in those patients that in former times did not have access to any kind of dental treatment.
